Christmas Eve

Christmas eve I was able to sleep in, which felt glorious! J left the house early that morning to finish his Christmas shopping, typical man! Hehe. He called to tell me that we were having Christmas at his family’s later that evening, so I jumped up in a mad rush! I had to finish wrapping the presents and get everything sorted for us to go over there. It had originally been the plan to go on Christmas day, but plans changed.

J came home and spewed the presents all over the floor as we wrapped in a mad frenzy! Little Kitty thought it was a big game, and kept attacking the wrapping paper as we attempted to finish wrapping. While we were wrapping, J asked me if we were going to wrap our children's presents together. *Shocked* I said, yes.

We arrived at J’s parents’ house and we were the first one’s there. That’s okay, as I was able to visit with his parents and nephew, which I always enjoy. His dad fixed me a cup of Hot Apple Cider, which was delicious! That’s a huge step for his father, as he is not one to socialize or get to know someone. His mom, I adore, and before I knew it she had volunteered me to help her cut up veggies in the kitchen with her. We were telling stories and laughing, it was a lot of fun! I honestly felt like I fit in, that I was “right at home”.

We opened gifts and it was pure chaos! Everyone opens gifts all at once, and there is wrapping paper flying everywhere! It seems that everyone opens gifts so quickly that they don’t even know who it was from, or what they really got. I noticed J asking who he got this and this from, just because he didn’t take the time to read the “sticker”. I’m used to, in my family, to one person opening a gift at a time, not all at once.

J's momma got me a beautiful necklace and earring set, along with 4 gorgeous picture frames. She knows that I love photography! I also got scarves, a watercolor & sketching set, & a CD holder for my car.

All in all, I had a really great time. I felt accepted into his family, and it seemed that they were really treating me as one of their “own”. That’s such an incredible feeling!

Here are some pictures from the day!

Evil & Gloom

A drawing with evil & gloom.

A sun peeking through.

Raindrops falling down

Cascading into tears.

Looking above, there is glory.

A cancer survivor, not a victim

Now she's finally free.

While all weep below, she rejoices in becoming whole again

A Little Winter Date

J and I went on a little date tonight. We drove around and looked at Christmas lights, it is something we always enjoyed doing as a child, so I thought what better way to relive our childhood memories :). Here a few snapshots that I got!

We went and rented a movie and now I'm at home enjoying the rest of my Saturday evening!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Deep down in the south we were hit with a winter storm in the middle of the night. This is what I awoke to. Needless to say, I'm spending the day at home! Snow day anyone!? I thought I didn't get these anymore since I was a grown up, but apparently I do! Awesome! Love PTO Time at work! Yessss!

I'm staying warm and cozy in my house! Hope you're safe wherever you are today, too!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

I'm not a fan of Christmas music, but I love this version of this song.

Slow Down Life

Do you ever feel like life somehow becomes crazy and you forget to stop and enjoy the little things that you love and enjoy the most? There are so many things that I absolutely adore, that without I don't feel whole. I feel as if a part of myself is missing, my inner self.

I used to love to write. Write poetry, that is. It was my release, I was always searching for inspiration to spark my next poem. It was a rush and yet something that gave me so much joy. I've found a new passion; photography as well.

It seems here lately, I've become so caught up with daily life that I've lost sight of the things that I enjoy. I feel as I'm just going through the motions, and not fulfilling my every day to the best of my capabilities.

Do you ever feel like you're caught up in life? How do you find the time to get back to the things that mean the most? How do you find time for yourself?

Winter Wonderland...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Here's mine and J's first Christmas tree together :).

A wreath I made for our door! It's hanging on the inside. It's so bright and cheerful, I love it!

These are some ornaments I made. Nothing too fancy, but I think they are simple and lovely!

Photo Blog

I'm at home sick. With the flu. My talk with my body, apparently didn't work! Booo!

A day of blogging, watching movies, and the couch is in my forecast. Not the greatest way to spend a weekend, but at least it's cold outside and snow is on the way.

Here are a few photos of my week:

Outside my office door. A SNOWY wintry morning.

I came home last night to this laying on the bathroom sink! A present from J. And by the way, if you're in the market for a new razor, HELLO! This one ROCKS! My legs are silky smooth! :)

And awoke to this being brought to me in bed this morning. A chocolate chip muffin! J surprised me! I simply love him! :)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Any exciting plans?

Dear Body

Everyone around me has the flu. It's that time of the year. Unfortunately, I'm feeling a bit sniffly this morning, and praying that I don't get sick. So my body & I had a little convo this morning. It went a little like this:

Dear Body: I take vitamins every day. I eat healthy. And I bundle up like an Eskimo when I go outside, and it's cold. So PLEASE don't let me get sick...I'm counting on you!

Let's hope she listens!
