Sick Day

Yesterday I was sick.

Sniffly.

Feverish.

Achey.

Just feeling all around blah.

So what did I do, stayed home from work. Slept in till noonish. (Don’t hate). It was glorious! Stayed in my pj’s till a couple hours later.

Lunch

What to eat. Don’t want chicken noodle soup. Or any of that feel better sick food. Ham and cheese sandwich with Cheddar Sour Cream Baked Ruffles. Yum.

Television

There really isn’t anything on tv during the day. Smut shows. Watched them all. Yes I did! You know how long it’s been since I watched a talk show. Ages. I mean years, I tell ya!

Ellen & Oprah (Flipped back and forth)

That Nate guy on Oprah he’s a cutie pateutie. (Sorry I don’t know how to spell that word). Not sure it’s even a word. ::Sigh::

Rachel Ray, I adore her! If only I had her mad skills! Wait. I think I do have her mad skills, too bad I don’t get paid for them. Geesh!

She made taco pasta. It looked delicious. So I ended up having tacos for dinner. Coincidence, huh? I think not, I had the brilliant idea first! Ha J

Boredom

It sank in. Stir crazy being cooped up in a house. I don’t do well when it’s pretty outside.

A movie would be nice to watch. Let’s go rent one, I thought.

No makeup. Baseball cap (those really are the greatest inventions for bad hair days).

500 Days of Summer ~ Cute. Have ya seen it?

Painted my nails a pink shimmery color! Totally cute.

Talked to my love. He’s the best!

Sweet dreams to me.

Oh the joys of my less productive of a day!

Our Fishing Adventure

What a beautiful weekend! Yes, I know it's Tuesday and I'm just now recapping for the weekend! Better late than never, right ?

Friday:
J & I went out apartment hunting, oh what a daunting task! We'll find something that suits both of us soon, I'm sure of it! We then couldn't figure out what we wanted to eat, so J settled for Rally's, while I went to our local Chinese place and ordered Chicken Lo Mein and rice. Can we say yum?? The portions there are huge, and I wasn't able to finish all of it! So lunch for me the next day, woot! :).

Saturday:
J & I woke up to a beautiful Saturday with no particular plans! J said, you want to go fishing? Of course I do! I haven't been fishing in ages, and I love it. Something is so peaceful about sitting on the bank of a lake/river, I could simply sit there for hours just listening to nature that surrounds us. I packed us a picnic lunch, and off we went to go get his fishing gear. This man has a tackle box that surpasses any tackle box I've ever seen. (I'll include a pic for you to see). I'm sure we could get lost in the woods and still survive for days upon end, I love my outdoorsman!

J bought me a new fishing pole!! It's purple, black & white! Super cute!

This picture just made me happy! The sun was peeking through the clouds, I thought it was a gorgeous sight!

After we bought all of our necessities that we didn't already have, off to the lake we went! We had a great time fishing and ended up fishing at two different lakes. I didn't catch one fish, but J caught 4! I just fed them all! Pfft! They had a conspiracy against me, I just know it! Ha :). Nonetheless, I had a great time! He said I was officially his new "fishing buddy", aww how sweet :). Makes me giggle inside! That super duper in love giggle!

Oh geesh, I'm sure that was just over the top with mush! ..sigh..I don't care! :)

Do you enjoy being in the outdoors?

Mental Health Day

Do you ever have those days?

What days do you ask?

The ones where you feel completely overwhelmed, can't seem to find a sense of peace or serenity, quiet time evades you, those around you (negativity is constantly spewing out), and etc.

I think of myself as a very positive person, always wanting to help others but here lately it just doesn't seem like it's enough.

Right now I want to retreat into my shell and hide. {Peeking my head out ever so often to see if the world has slowed down}

I asked for a day off tomorrow at work ~A Mental Health Day of sorts. I think she thought I was joking and not serious. I really need a day away. Tomorrow is Friday. The weather is supposed to be beautiful with abundance of sunshine. That always does the soul good, right?

Peace and calmness where are you?

Case of the Mondays

Today it's rainy and dreary. I woke up needing another hour of sleep, as the time change apparently caught up with me while I was sleeping!

I'm definitely having a case of the Mondays. I'm sitting at my desk stuffing over 500 envelopes, and while doing so I changed my desktop background on my computer to something a bit more cheery! :).

I can just imagine lying in this field of beautiful flowers watching the clouds float by! Lying in the arms of my lover, whispering sweet nothings in each others ears. Having a picnic. Listening to the birds sing lovely songs. And the smell of fresh flowers fill the air.

Oh the lovely daydreams :).

Rainy Weekend

Sunday nights, why must they come so soon? As the old saying goes:

"Time flies when you're having fun!"

Isn't that just the truth?

Friday evening J requested his favorite meal that I make, so being the Awesome girlfriend that I am (hey I like to toot my horn every now and then), I went to the store in the pouring rain and gathered up all the ingredients to whip it up :). Who am I kidding, I love cooking especially when it puts a big ol' smile on his face!

His request: My Chicken Pot Pie with a twist! A topping of stuffing instead of the regular Chicken Pot Pie Crust. Absolutely yummm :). He devoured it, and kept raving on how much he enjoyed every bite! I guess I won brownie points with that one or shall we say "Stuffing Points". Hehe.
We spent the rest of the evening lying watching tv and me being a complete giggle box. It was quite humorous, especially when the littlest of things would have me laughing so hard I was holding my sides. J, looked on as I'd lost my mind! He called me his little "goofball".

Saturday we woke up and it was a rainy/cloudy day. Days such as those just make me want to stay in the bed even longer, how about you? We putzed around doing nothing in particular, sometimes those are the best! We ended up spending the evening coloring and playing Super Nintendo (Super Mario Baby)!!! Brought us both to being a kid, and we loved every minute of it! We laughed so hard, and had big smiles on our face the entire time! I love having someone to share such goofy moments with, laughing, and just reverting back to the good ol' days!

Today was another lazy day as it was pouring the rain and cold! We grabbed lunch, rented a couple movies and then spent the rest of the afternoon/evening relaxing! Bewitched & The Jerk were our movie choices! I love Bewitched, super cute I must buy this!

The weekend is ending and the work week starts early in the a.m. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

What is your favorite activity on a rainy day?
What is a favorite childhood activity that you still love to do?

Inner Hippie

As I sit here typing this I'm smelling the lovely aroma of incense burning!
(Wow I'm really on a kick of smells lately, aren't I?)
I bought a little "mini incense set" and tonight finally broke it out to use it for the first time! I'm so super excited, oh the little things in life.

We have a fair trade store in the city just south of me and I love to visit there everytime I get the chance. I swear I was born in the wrong decade, 1960's & 70's would've been awesome!
I find myself each and every day loving the "hippie" movement. Or maybe we should say

"Love & Peace" baby!

Anywho, I digress. This store is called "Peace Craft" and they have everything imaginable! Clothing, jewelry, candles, soaps, purses, coffee, scarves, and everything in between. The only kicker is that everything is made in other fair trade countries. Neat, huh?? I think so :).

While I was there I picked up a ROCKIN' necklace, I must get a picture of it! A mini incense kit, which I snapped a photo of for you (made in India), a scarf (made in Nepal) it's gorgeous!, & baby booties that are little rabbits for my boss' baby shower coming up! (They are made with 40% alpaca hair). Is anyone else amused, or am I completely off my rocker, ha?!

Below are some pictures of my new lovely purchases! Enjoy!

What's your favorite smell? Do you have anything that's unique that you absolutely adore?

Spring Rain

The skies were growing cloudy with sunshine peeking through. I walked out of my office door to head home and smelled the loveliest smell! The smell of a spring rain in the air!

Does anyone else enjoy this as much as I do? Something about it smells so pure, fresh & clean! Spring is just waiting around the corner and I couldn't be more ecstatic!

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!!

Recap, Photos, & Oh My

I've been home a week from Portland, and still trying to recuperate! That 3 hour time change is killer *whew*; it's easier going West than flying back East but things are starting to return back to normal! With that being said thought I'd share some pictures that I took along my trip, which was work related but I managed to sneak some fun in from time to time :).

This is the very LARGE donut hanging in Voo Doo Donuts, the coolest place on Earth! They have the largest of variety of any flavored donuts you could ever imagine to pick from!

These are my donuts that I got at Voo Doo! A Voo Doo doll with a pretzel sticking in it's heart. You bite into "him/her" and red jelly squirts out to make it look like blood. And then who can go wrong with a donut with oreos on top! Yummmm!

This is a cool looking place we passed while trying to find Voo Doo Donuts! I just had to take a picture. I wanted to go inside, but my co-worker thought it was sketchy looking!

We went to this pizzeria called Old Town Pizza Co. Oh my, it was delicious! I am a sucker for a great pizza and this place exceeded my expectations! There's a very cool story behind this place it's reportedly, HAUNTED!

"Underneath the floor boards are the Shanghai Tunnels connecting Portland via underground pathways, then used to nab unsuspecting sailors and transport them to ships docked on the river, and can be viewed during private tours.
" ~

Doesn't that pizza look to die for???

Portland is quite the eco-friendly city, and this sign just cracked me up in the bathroom. I knew people back home (KY) would not believe this so I had to take a picture. Up for "Liquid Waste" & Down for "Solid Waste".

A picture of Mt. Hood as we're flying home!

See ya Portland. I am super happy to be back home!

I have a confession

I have a confession to make. I'm completely in love with......

Books! I love them, I find myself in book stores browsing for hours when the chance happens upon me. I seem to always buy another book, even though I have stacks of those I haven't even gotten the chance to read here at home.

Am I alone in this craziness??

I love the smell of old books, always wondering who has read them before me, what life lesson they may have received, did they share a good laugh, cry...Well you get the picture.

Right now I'm reading this book....

It's fantastic! Quite lengthy for one whom has trouble finding time to read but still very interesting and has my attention captured.

So what are you reading? Who are your favorite authors/books that I may need to take a look at?
