List #15

There really isn’t anything in particular that I need to buy, but here are things that I will be purchasing here soon.

List #15 - What’s on your shopping list?
  • Tickets to the MLB game to go watch my cousin play.
  • Make up - Almost Out!
  • A new nail polish color - Any suggestions?
  • New Workout Clothes
  • New Bedding Set for my bed. Still on the search, can’t find one that suits me just “right”.

Hmm, I’m sure there is more that if I saw it I would think I need it, but in all honestly I probably don’t! Ha!

Happy Hump Day!

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Hello!

Well, hello there! I’m enjoying some quiet time in my office before my boss comes back from lunch. I just had an insane craving for Ginger ale. Oh no, not just any Ginger ale. I want the locally made Ginger ale that I had in Portland, Oregon last year. My, it was so delicious. Ah well, I can’t have any since I’m in Kentucky not Oregon, so life will continue on. Ha!

What shall I write? How about last night I ran around like a crazy woman. I am not a fan of incredibly busy week nights. I enjoy being able to come home and have some relaxation time, not run, run, run, sleep. Nope, that is definitely not my ideal evening. However, I did get quite a bit of items accomplished and crossed off my to-do list, which makes me feel pretty darn great!

Oh, I went to the grocery last night. Can I just say that I’m completely appalled at how grocery prices have jumped in simply a week? There are items that jumped an entire dollar, that’s absurd! How do they think that families and individuals are supposed to survive on increasing gas/grocery prices? I’m definitely growing my container garden this year, yep! All the free produce I can get will definitely help! Enough of my griping...

I have two Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies sitting on my desk eyeing me....

Ah, this could be dangerous!

List #14

List #14 - Things I Love About Today

This list really couldn’t come at a better time. Isn’t it funny how somehow in life something sneaks in to make you realize the greatness of the day, rather than all the negative? Here is my sunshine for the day...
  • My music playing at work.
  • Delicious morning coffee
  • J giving me a kiss this morning before he left.
  • Finding out that my cousin will be playing MLB a couple hours from me. I get to go watch him play, so excited! I’ve never been to a MLB game before!

Hope you have a great day!

Weekend Update

I feel like I’m constantly on repeat, saying that I’m having pretty great weekends. Although, I’ll stay stuck on repeat if that’s what is so continuous...hope you don’t mind!

Friday - After work I met Londi at the gym to sign the papers and get our key cards! We are OFFICIAL members, woot! J texted me and told me he was cooking dinner, and if I would stop and pick up hamburger buns and chips. So I did! I came home and he was cooking away! We ate dinner together, and afterwards I finished my Easter Wreath. J and I sat and talked, had a dance party in the middle of our living room, and me attempting to tell him I wish I could walk like the “powerful model strut”. Which, started another dance party. Ha! Finally, we settled down and ended up falling asleep on the couch watching a movie!

Saturday - I slept in til around 10:30, and it was fabulous. J had gotten up at 8 to go do who knows what, and then was grouchy when he got home and I was still asleep. Ha! I got up and got ready and off we went. We grabbed lunch at Applebee’s, soup and salad for me, a Reuben for him. *Bleh* Then we went to Half Priced Books and browsed for a while, until J finally had to tell me he was leaving. I could have spent another couple hours in there. Saturday night it was Rodeo Time! J and I attended a PRCA rodeo, and it was a lot of fun! It reminded me of the days I used to rodeo. It was neat to show J what I used to do and he was impressed, now he wants to see home videos that my mom had taped. I guess we will need to do that soon! After the rodeo, we headed home and watched some tv and then crashed!

Sunday - We slept in. I made pancakes for breakfast and then we cleaned the apartment before heading off to his parent’s house. I also laid on the couch for a while and watched the movie Save the Last Dance, hey it was on TBS! I love that movie! I read some of my magazine, and J putzed around in his “man cave”. We spent some time with his mom in her green house, she is the Master Gardener, she amazes me! She had two baby rabbits in her green house, they are named Buddy & Holly, so of course we had to take them out of their cage and hold them. That is until one of them clawed the crap out of J trying to squirm away, ha! We visited with his parents for a couple hours and then headed home. I cooked dinner, took a bath and gave myself a facial, and then off to bed.

And now here we are....Monday!

List #13

I skipped List #12. I don’t do Weekly Rituals, I just do my thing from day to day. So, here is List #13.

Somehow I find myself interested in new hobbies and projects daily. I have magazine cut outs, Internet print outs, and books all over the place stuffed full of inspiration.

List #13 DIY’s I want to Try:

  • Grow a container/patio garden this year
  • Learn how to can vegetables, etc.
  • Knitting/Crochet
  • Sewing
  • Shoot a bow (archery)

I’m sure that there are a ton more, but these are the ones that come to mind this second.

It's Monday

It’s definitely a Monday morning. I walk in this morning to find out that my association is in financial trouble. This isn’t news to me, I already knew this. It’s the exact same thing that we went through last year. They simply do not know how to manage money, and tend to spend money on things that are un necessary. I walk in this morning to talk of cutting hours or possibly closing the doors. How do you keep on working and not have a bad attitude? An attitude of who cares if the work gets done because simply, there’s no benefits in it for me?

I’m frustrated. Stressed. And scared. I have been looking for jobs, but there is simply nothing out there. I have put out applications, resumes, but the job market is awful as most of you know.

So, for now I sit here and hope that things work out for the best. This job isn’t my ideal job and it is sucking the life out of me, but this isn't the way out that I had planned.

Everything happens for a reason, right?

I just got this text from J, when I told him about what was going on: I’m sorry babe. Looks like it may be some change for ya whether ya like it or not. But no worries we will be okay :).

List # 11

Date Night Ideas:

  • Take a drive through the country side.

  • Dinner & Movie

  • Hanging out in J’s shop being total goof’s

  • Fishing

  • Shooting Guns

  • Flea Marketing

  • Comedy Shows

  • Concerts

  • Browsing a book store/library

  • Helping J mow hay while riding on the wheel of the tractor (ouch)

  • Laying in the hayfield at night talking...and *ahem* other shenanigans may happen. *Itchy* Ha!

  • Cooking in the kitchen together

Oh, and many more! I’m always one that loves to find new things for J and I to do together. Honestly, the most perfect things that we do are the ones that are simple and usually free. Being in nature is our “home”.

List #10

My Wish List:

- To continue to stay healthy

-To Live on a Farm and attempt to live off the land as much as possible

- To have a family

-To explore/travel more

- And simply live every day to it's fullest.

I really don't have a lot of wishes, per say. I attempt to live my life from day to day, and whatever my heart feels that it wants to do that day, I attempt to accomplish. These are my simple wishes that I hope to achieve in this life. I'm sure there will be many more to come in the future. I like to call them Dreams :)

Weekend/Friday Update

I’m finally getting around to posting this. Where has this week gone?

Friday - I took the day off from work, I needed a mental health day. I slept in til around 9:30 and it was glorious. I ran some errands, dropped off my taxes to finally get done, went to Lowe’s to pick up some things for the apartment, and went and visited my God Parent’s. I haven’t seen them since Christmas, I really need to make a point to get over there more often! I love them dearly, they are like my second parents. My God Mother was the only one home when I went to visit, so we sat and chatted for quite a while. She gets a phone call while we are sitting there saying that one of their dogs has took off a couple miles down the road, so off we go to go rescue her. At that time, my God Father gets home and asked where we going and we tell him. His response, Go get that little “bitch”. Bitch being the dog, ha! We went and got her, and she stunk to high heavens. Shew! I’m not sure what she got into but she definitely needed a bath when we got back, and that’s exactly what we did. After we were finished with that at their barn, my God Father comes over on the golf cart and wants to know what my plans are for the rest of the day. I told him nothing really. He said, well come on over to the house and come with us.

Off we went to my “Little Brother’s” house to doctor a horses’ foot, and then we drove the back country roads. It was nice just being the 3 of us. I love them both, but my God Father always keeps me in stitches. He asked me if I needed something to drink, and I said certainly! He pulled off at this gas station and bought me a candy bar and a soda. Then proceeded to tell me he was never picking up hitchhikers again, because they were expensive, ha! I said, you invited me. He said, yes. Invited. To ride along. Not to cost my wallet money. hehe! He proceeded to tell me if he won the lotto that night, he’d give me a million of it. How thoughtful. After taking a 2 hour drive on the back roads through some gorgeous countryside, to simply put two towels on two seats at a livestock sale for the next day, we headed back home. He really wanted to guarantee to save himself a seat :).

After I left their house I headed home. J was home working on his truck, and we were entertaining ourselves with our new neighbor (Thumper) moving in. J named her! Ha! He said he was starving so after he cleaned himself up we took our happy selves to Buffalo Wild Wings and chowed down on some wings and celery!

Pretty great day!

I guess this is a Friday update, rather than a weekend one. Oops!

Dear Leg

This morning I couldn’t get my prosthetic leg on to save my life! So, here’s my letter :

Dear Leg:

Why did you have to give me trouble this morning? I even took a hot bath last night equipped with bath salts and bubbles to relax you, I know that you were sore. Trust me, you have been giving me fits for the past couple days. Seriously, did you not want me to walk today? I guess you found it very amusing that I was hopping around like a bunny rabbit in the bedroom trying to get you to go on. Damn you! Hippity Hop, is that what you were singing? It wasn’t funny, I finally got you “locked” in place. Ha! Now, what must you say about that? I’m expecting you to be on your best behavior for the rest of the week. Don’t do that to me when I’m in a time crunch to get to work. I can just hear my excuse for not coming in now: I’m sorry I can’t come into work today, I can’t get my leg on. I wonder how many people can use that as an excuse?

Love dearly,

Ashley

Blissful

Hello there! It’s a beautiful Monday here in Kentucky! The sun is peering through the overcast of clouds with the warmth of the air just wrapped around you. Oh my, it’s so glorious outside! In the upper 70’s today, yes please! First day of spring has proven to be quite lovely, wouldn’t you say?

I sit here at my desk hearing only my fingers tap against the keys of this keyboard and the sounds of birds chirping outside. The branches on the trees are swaying back and forth with the occasional rustle of the leaves still left from winter.

My mind needs to be somewhere else today, so I let it soak in the little bit of nature that surrounds this office building. My soul feels it needs to breathe, not have the life sucked out of it by this office. The feeling of fresh air renews itself.

Focusing on the small things that surround me is all I need to get through this day.

Blissful.

My Happy Place

I have been telling myself all day that I was going to visit the place that brings me such peace. It's a lake not far from my house, and I enjoy spending time there taking photos, writing, reading, or just enjoying the nature that surrounds me. After I cooked dinner, I took off to get there before the sunset. The water was relatively calm, with the sound of tree frogs in the background. I spotted a couple fisherman hidden back in a cove, enjoying a lovely warm early spring day. The sight of buttercups blooming brought a smile to my face. Here is a photo I snapped to capture the moment. There's really nothing quite being surrounded by nature, it's simply where I belong.

Do you have a place that you can go to be at peace?

Love & Hope

Yesterday I was reading the coverage on what was going on in Japan, and my heart was simply breaking. I've been keeping up with it daily, but the sadness never goes away while reading such tragedy. I wanted to help. Although, how would I? A monetary donation, even if it was small would be a help to them. I'm sure that they would be grateful for anything that they could receive right now.

I was sitting at my desk debating on going out for lunch, when it hit me. How about I use the money that I would spend for lunch and donate it to relief efforts in Japan. So, that's exactly what I did! Even something small can help!

List #7

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! :).

Rejuvenated

Last night I decided that I needed a night for myself. A lot of times I get caught up in doing things for others that I get lost in the shuffle. Yesterday, I was feeling drained and exhausted and I knew that I needed to rejuvenate my mind & body.

I jetted home to spend some time with J before he went off to work, boy he was grouchy. He definitely doesn't like working the graveyard shift, that's for sure. After he left, I ran out and picked up some take out for dinner. I definitely didn't feel like cooking. I rented a movie, "Morning Glory", which was super cute! I curled up on the couch, and popped in the movie while I ate my dinner.

I turned my phone on silent as well, the peace and quiet was definitely welcomed. After the movie was over, I went upstairs and ran a hot bath. I had a little spa going on in my bathroom.

-Rosemary Mint Bath Salts

-Lemon/Mint Facial Mask

-Broke Out the New Shampoo - wow It smelled so lovely

-Plucked my eyebrows

-Kicked back and read some of my book

-Lit candles

After my bath I gave myself a pedicure. I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated! It's definitely what I needed!

I need to do that more often!

Foodie

Dinner last night was a new recipe I attempted.

Homemade Lasagna Roll Ups.

J said I got an A+ for creativity.

He then said he liked them better than regular lasagna!

Score!

It makes me happy when he enjoys my cooking. And he's even more fantastic for letting me try out new recipes on him!

Yep, that's all.

Day #2/30 - Things I'm Good At

rsda

Happy Rainy Thursday! It's gloomy and dreary here today, how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

Today is Day #2 of 30 days of lists.

Things I’m Good At:

  • Reading people. I have been told I have a great sense of judgment with people
  • Documenting my life in pictures. Although, I’ve been slacking on this lately!
  • Enjoying my morning cup of coffee
  • Loving my friends and family.
  • Being indecisive
  • Appreciating the small joys in life
  • Enjoying alone time
  • Rocking out in my car to music

I found this one to be difficult. Isn't it funny how we always have a hard time picking things out about ourselves that are good, instead of negative. Have a Happy Thursday!

y!
